State-of-the-Art Hearing Aids Connect to the Internet
Dr. Julie recently attended a product release in Orlando introducing Oticon’s groundbreaking Opn™ device. This state-of-the-art hearing aid helps people with hearing loss hear better with less effort and better recall so that users can retain more of what is said. It expertly manages multiple noise and speech sources as well, so users don’t have to work as hard to understand speech. This is especially useful in challenging listening situations like restaurants.
“Oticon’s new device is the first proven to make hearing easier on the brain,” said Dr. Julie. “Preliminary testing shows that Opn increases speech understanding by 30%, and users have experienced 20% less listening effort when trying to understand speech. By using less energy trying to understand, users are also able to remember 20% more of what was said.”
Opn: A State-of-the-Art Hearing Aid
Opn is loaded with innovative technology. It is powered by the high-speed Velox™ platform, which is 50 times faster than previous technology. It scans, analyzes, and reacts to sounds over 100 times per second. Wearers enjoy an open sound experience, which means surrounding sounds are available but not intrusive. Users can easily follow sounds they want to hear and effortlessly shift their attention when desired.
Catching up with ReSound’s made-for-iPhone hearing devices, Opn now offers wireless connectivity to iOS and Android devices. Users can enjoy sound streaming directly to the hearing instruments via Bluetooth, eliminating the need for additional accessories. Plus, the free Oticon ON App™ gives wearers the ability to control volume, program selection, device selection, and other functions with their smartphone.
Finally, not to be overshadowed by the speed of the Velox™ platform, Opn is the world’s first hearing aid that connects directly to the internet. Using the If This Then That network (IFTTT), wearers can connect to a range of IFTTT-enabled devices including doorbells, baby monitors, and thermostats. More IFTTT-compatible products and services will be added as they become available.
