Dr. Mara Smith
Au.D., CCC-A, CH-TM
I grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, and completed my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. After finishing my degrees, I completed my externship at Mayo Clinic Arizona. The Arizona sunshine won me over, so I decided to stick around.
I come from a family of healthcare professionals and always knew I wanted to work in medicine. With that in mind, I took a mix of different courses in college to see what I was interested in. I took the Science of Human Communication, which introduced me to hearing and audiology, and I was hooked.
Now, at Sound Relief, I work primarily with adults navigating hearing loss and/or tinnitus. The appointments range from someone's very first hearing evaluation to fitting new devices to annual checkups.
My favorite part of my work is the relationships I get to build with my patients. I don't just treat their auditory system; I get to know their families and their stories. Because of that, every appointment is a chance to help someone reconnect with the people and moments they care about most, and that's what makes this work so special.
When I’m not at the clinic, you can usually find me spending time with friends and family, watching reality TV (anything on Bravo), or cooking a new recipe in my kitchen.

If you could have dinner with one person, who would you choose?
My mom and dad but at the age I am now. I'd love to see what they were like and hear about their lives as younger versions of themselves.
